Haywards Heath
This ever popular and prosperous commuter town grew rapidly once the railway arrived in 1840 and is located on the main line between London & Brighton. It is ideal for residents wishing to live in the country but have a direct, fast and frequent service to London (Victoria & London Bridge 47 minutes). The proximity to the A23/M25 orbital road network also makes it convenient for easy travel to the surrounding area including Gatwick Airport and the coast.
The area is well served by a range of highly regarded private and state schools which is an attractive draw for families. Local amenities include town centre shopping facilities, an array of restaurants, several parks, a modern leisure centre, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose superstores.
Lindfield
Lindfield has a rich historic and architectural heritage, the ancient and picturesque High Street lined with lime trees, has over forty medieval and post medieval timber-framed houses providing quaint and rustic charm. It has a thriving community and offers a variety of traditional shops, boutiques, a medical centre, coffee shops, restaurants and a choice of pubs.
At the southern end of the High Street is a natural spring-fed duck pond and the Common beyond hosts cricket, football and many community events throughout the year including Village Day, Arts Festival and Bonfire Night celebrations.
Surrounding Area
There are a number of charming Sussex villages which offer a quieter pace of life and a chance to be part of their local communities, centred round the local school, church or public house. With over 60% of the district designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty there are many public footpaths and bridleways offering a chance to enjoy the glorious surrounding countryside. To the north is Ashdown Forest in the heart of the High Weald with its 6,400 acres of heathland and to the south is the chalk escarpments of the South Downs National Park. There is sailing and fishing at nearby Ardingly and Weirwood Reservoirs, horse racing at Plumpton, equestrian events at Hickstead, plus numerous golf courses throughout Mid Sussex.
